Favorite Character Contest

Hello there, fellow gears of the club! Do you think you have what it takes to make the greatest drawing yet, starring any of your favorite characters from the Gears of War series? And win the biggest prizes yet? Well then, you’ve come to right place for that!

In this month’s contest, the topic will involve you, the artist, to come up with a fantastic drawing that will include one or more of your favorite characters from the game series, Gears of War! There will be no limits on what you need to draw involving the characters, so be creative on what you’ll make. It could be based on a favorite scene you like from the video games or the books, or it could be based on random things, such as Delta Squad shopping in the mall, Carmine sleeping in an apartment, anything you would like! Make sure that it’s purely based on Gears of War, and only that series only, so your entry will be accepted in the contest.


Here are some of the rules you must follow:

The contest entries will be accepted only by members of the club. (If you want to sign up for membership, just leave me a note saying you want to join the club, and you'll become a member.)
The contest entries must follow DA's rules and regulations. (For example, if a drawing has nudity or gore, you must use a warning filter. It's mandatory, even if you think it might not be necessary at all.)
The contest entries can be drawn/made however you like. Be it just lineart or colored in, whichever one you like, but I would recommend sending an entry that is fully cleaned and/or colored. (Note: This is an eligibility for those who want a higher standard of winning.)
The contest entries must be related to all the characters from the series. I will not accept an entry if it has a crossover with your original characters, other game characters, etc.
The contest entries can be based on anything that is Gears of War related, even from the comic books of Liam Sharp, the novels, and the video game series. If you also want to use the characters from the novels and comic books as well, I would accept it. (I know that from the novel’s characters you’ll have to make them up on your own, which will be considered as original characters, but as long as these characters are familiarized within the series, such as Mataki, Dom’s brother, etc., then the entry is acceptable.)
The contest entries must be made Purely from you, and yourself only. I will not accept cut-outs from the video game screenshots, or anything else that might relate to that. I want to see your originality, and I know everyone else would.
The contest entries can have a maximum amount of blood and gore, foul language, and a minimum amount of nudity, but if it exceeds the amount given to you, the entries will not be acceptable to enter in the contest.
The contest entries must be CREATIVE, and if possible, FRIENDLY.
You can enter as much as 3 entries per member, but no more than the amount given.


If you want to submit your entry, follow these guidelines:

Send me a comment of your drawing ONLY on this journal.
Send me a note of your drawing, and title it "Contest Entry".


And lastly, here are the prizes that'll be given out to the winners:

1st Runner-Up
- A drawing fully cleaned and colored by ~MyFantasiWorld
2nd Runner-Up
- A drawing fully cleaned and colored, complete with background and character (only 1 character) by *doodle-bugz
3rd Runner-Up
- A drawing fully cleaned and not colored, complete with a simple background and 2 characters with no explicitness by *Lei-sam


The contest will begin at June 15, 2009 at 12:00 am GMT (Mountain Time) and will end at July 18, 2009 at 10:00 pm GMT (Mountain Time.)

Until the deadline has been reached, the voting will start to take place, in which will determine the winners of the contest. You'll have a whole month to make your entry and submit it on time, so don't expect an extension for the date.

The Voting Booth

Alright, you guys, the time is up! Any entries you want to submit right now will not be accepted in the contest anymore. If you turned in your entry late or didn't get the chance to make one, well, I'll have to say you'll have to try again next time until the next contest is made. I appreciate you all for participating, though.

Now as for the voting, I will be posting a list of the entries in an alphabetical order. All the members here in this club will then choose the deviation they love best, including me and the contestants. For the contestants, be sure not to vote for your drawing, only the other participants' entries. If you don't want to vote, otherwise, then it's all fine with me, but I expect most of the members to help out and choose the deviation you think is best for winning.
